CEREC® One-Day Dental Crowns
North Florida Dentistry is proud to be able to offer CEREC one-day crowns as an option for our patients in the Clay County area. Regular dental crowns are used as a kind of cap for damaged or broken teeth, preserving the structure and helping to prevent extraction. They are a useful tool in any dentist’s arsenal.
The CEREC crown is an advanced version of the regular dental crown, and it’s a far more convenient, attractive option that also has a cosmetic dentistry application. CEREC crowns are made to look and feel exactly like real teeth, so they blend seamlessly with the surrounding teeth in your mouth. Once placed, you won’t even be able to tell it’s a crown!
Traditional vs. CEREC Crowns
Traditional dental crowns require two separate office visits. During the first visit, the dentist takes an impression of the area and addresses the shape and structure of the tooth itself to make sure it’s ready to receive the crown. Once the area is prepared, a temporary crown will be placed and the impression will be sent out of the office to a third party to be constructed. At this point, there will be a waiting period while that dental lab constructs the crown and sends it back to the dentist.
No More Waiting
With a CEREC one-day crown, the waiting period is eliminated. Instead of fashioning your crown from a messy, physical impression, the CEREC method uses a special powder coating that allows us to take a digital picture of your tooth. This image is then used to create a CEREC crown, using the software in the CEREC® 3D computer program where the tooth’s final shape and color will be configured. Once finished the image is sent to a machine located in our office, and the tooth cap will be made right there!
This extraordinary process allows us to fashion crowns quickly and easily, placing them in just one visit. A traditional crown can be made of a wide range of different materials, including stainless steel and other metals, ceramics, and porcelain. CEREC crowns are fashioned completely out of porcelain, allowing them to be both sturdy and attractive. We believe it’s easily one of our most advanced cosmetic dental services, and we are pleased to be able to offer it to our patients.
